About the museum
The collection presents the oeuvre of the painter Soproni Horváth József. A major figure of 20th-century Hungarian painting, he was born in a small village in Veszprém County, but remained loyal to Sopron throughout his life, which is why he received the epithet “Soproni”. His realistically depicted figures and emotional landscapes characterise his oeuvre.
The exhibition is housed in the upper-floor rooms of the listed Cézár-ház. Visitors can walk through the rooms where the painter’s family lived and view his legacy. The collection can be visited all year round, with an admission ticket. It is run by the Soproni Múzeum.
