About the museum
The Lipicai Lótörténeti Kiállítás (Lipizzaner Horse History Exhibition) is housed in one of the rooms of the count’s stable built in 1860 in Szilvásvárad. Pictures, sculptures and period tools present the nearly four-hundred-year history of the Lipizzaner breed and how Europe’s oldest cultivated horse breed found a new home in the Bükk Mountains.
The exhibition also recalls the tools of riding and driving life and the achievements of Lipizzaner horses in competitive sport. Visitors can also see the Lipizzaner stallion stable.
The exhibition is run by the Állami Ménesgazdaság Szilvásvárad (Szilvásvárad State Stud Farm).
