About the museum
The Béke utca memorial house in Fót preserves the oeuvre of the sculptor Németh Kálmán in his former residence, a listed building. In the nine exhibition rooms the works are displayed in their original arrangement, among furniture made by the artist.
The Szepesi room contains works on Trianon and on Hungarian historical themes; the library room holds the artist’s books, portrait sculptures, works from the First and Second World Wars, reliefs, guest books and gift pictures from painter friends. The glazed veranda contains sculptures, reliefs, graphic works, and a bed and a table of his own making. In the dining room twelve chairs stand at a joined table, and on the walls are works with biblical subjects and the 1660 Váradi Biblia (Váradi Bible).
The Zuna Edit memorial room keeps the memories of the artist’s wife and family photographs; the “Fóti dal” room holds the relief of the Fóti dal (Song of Fót), a portrait of Zrínyi Miklós and works by friends. The kitchen is partly furnished with original utensils; in the studio are sculptors’ tools, personal objects, the Szárnyas oltár (Winged Altar), an early Baroque corner cupboard and an 18th-century Corpus (crucifix figure). On the wall of the wine cellar are the signatures of former visitors. The well-kept, protected vineyard and orchard garden is atmospheric in every season.
