About the museum
The overshot water mill at Örvényes is still in operation today. The folk-style miller’s house, rebuilt in the 18th century, houses an ethnographic and folk art collection, which is also known as the Malommúzeum (Mill Museum). On the southern edge of the mill garden, a late baroque, two-arched, vaulted stone bridge was built in the mid-1800s; in the sculpture niche of its central pier stands a statue of Nepomuki Szent János (Saint John of Nepomuk), which the millers probably had erected for their patron saint.
The mill is looked after by the Örvényesi Önkormányzat (Örvényes municipality); its opening is seasonal: from May to October it welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday.
