About the museum
The heritage houses on Pisky sétány in Tihany present popular domestic culture and the traditions of fishing. According to records, between 1797 and 1820 the Parasztgazda Ház had only two rooms, with an open porch at the front; it was renovated in 1965. Its furnishings include a kitchen with an open chimney hood, a furnished room, a small pantry reached by a few steps down, an open barn-like building and a pigsty.
The Halászcéh Ház (Fishermen’s Guild House) is the only surviving fishermen’s guild house in Transdanubia. Here the guild meetings were held, and here the guild chest, the goblet and the seal were kept; its special feature is the smoke kitchen.
