About the museum
The Pannon Csillagda is the visitor centre of the Balaton-felvidéki Nemzeti Park (Balaton Uplands National Park) in Bakonybél, presenting itself as Hungary’s first comprehensive astronomy education and experience centre. The main elements of the building, which covers about 800 m², are the astronomical telescope park, the digital planetarium and the exhibitions on astronomy and the history of space exploration; in 2012 the centre won the award “Az év ökoturisztikai látogatóközpontja” (Eco-tourism Visitor Centre of the Year). Its space exploration exhibition has been renewed.
The admission ticket covers the exhibition and one planetarium show; film screenings start on the hour, and there are guided tours three times a day. The film about Mars in the 3D media room is visited with a separate ticket, and use of the solar telescope (Naptávcső) can be requested for a surcharge. With prior booking, night telescope demonstrations and evening programmes are also held.
