About the museum
The namesake of the house, Papp Zsigmond, a self-taught artist and inventor born in Gyoma, was a true polymath: he was skilled in stone sculpture, painting, woodcarving, inventions, politics and farming. His best-known works include the organ and oak doors of the Reformed church and the pedestal of the Országzászló (National Flag Monument).
The private collection, which opened in 2013, presents the intellectual and material legacy of Papp Zsigmond. The memorial exhibition presents the artist’s sculptures and paintings, and the interior exhibition in the house shows his carved furniture.
