About the museum

The Vidovszky Béla City Gallery opened its doors on 4 December 1993. Its six rooms present the works of artists connected with the town: the paintings and personal memorabilia of Vidovszky Béla (1883–1973), the pictures of Corini Margit (1897–1982), the painter of the Parisian night, the graphics and paintings of Illéssy Péter (1902–1962), and the paintings and study drawings of Holló László (1887–1976).

The exhibition space, renewed in 2023–2024, has been expanded with two new collections. The Aranka Doll Museum holds nearly a thousand dolls, including dolls from different continents and trades, accessory toys, teddy bears and doll houses; the dolls were donated to the town by Dr. Latorcai-Újházi Aranka Terézia and Dr. Latorcai János. The Kállai Ferenc Museum displays the bequest of a Kossuth Prize-winning actor, with theatre photographs, awards, personal objects and documents; the bequest was previously part of the collection of the Endrőd Heritage House (Endrődi Tájház). One ticket is valid for all three exhibitions. Several temporary exhibitions are held each year.
