About the museum
The RepTár Szolnoki Repülőmúzeum opened in 2016 near the Indóház (Station House) in Szolnok. The internationally renowned military aircraft collection of the former Szolnok Aviation History Exhibition Site moved here, enriched with new pieces, so the collection has been open all year round. Specialists of the Hadtörténeti Intézet és Múzeum (Military History Institute and Museum) helped to put the exhibition together.
On an area of about sixty thousand square metres there are more than 4,500 square metres of covered exhibition space. Alongside the retired and restored aircraft, helicopters, military equipment, engine models and relics of Hungarian aviation history, many interactive devices await visitors, and several of the aircraft have cockpits that can be sat in. Every aircraft is presented with a detailed technical description.
The museum is a unique aviation-history exhibition site in Central and Eastern Europe and also operates as a theme park: simulators, a 4D cinema, a 3D hoop, a military obstacle course and a playground provide entertainment for families and friends. There are listed buildings on the site, and the ground floor of the Indóház houses a bistro and a gift shop.
