About the museum
The Szabadtéri Vízügyi Múzeum (Open-Air Water Management Museum) is located between Szolnok and Szajol, at the Milléri pumping station. The museum's main attractions are the sluice built in 1862 and the pumping station fitted out in 1885, whose machine, more than a century old, still operates today.
The open-air section mainly presents water management machines and the equipment and tools associated with them. The material of the exhibition covers almost two hundred years of water management in the Central Tisza region.
By its nature the museum is a specialist collection; the site is operated by the Közép-Tisza-vidéki Vízügyi Igazgatóság (Central Tisza Region Water Management Directorate). Visits are possible by prior registration.
