About the museum
The Erzsébet liget in Szarvas lies on the right bank of the Holt-Körös and is connected to the town by a wooden footbridge; the water's edge is lined with swamp cypresses. Here stands the Ruzicskay Alkotóház, renovated with the support of the Kubinyi Ágoston Program.
In the house a permanent exhibition of works by the painter Ruzicskay György (1896–1993), born in Szarvas and laureate of the Munkácsy Mihály Prize, can be seen; the artist's and his family's estate is shown in an ethnographic exhibition. Ruzicskay studied in Nagyvárad, Munich, Italy and Paris, and then lived and worked in his home town until his death.
Figures of Szarvas's notable people also appear on the façade of the creative house. Alongside temporary exhibitions, art camps are held here in summer.
