Százhalombattai Régészeti Park

Hungary's first prehistoric open-air museum, in Százhalombatta, with reconstructions of Bronze Age and Iron Age life and burial mounds.

Opening hoursAdmission HUF 1,400

About the museum

The Régészeti Park opened in 1996 as Hungary's first prehistoric open-air museum, with the aim of giving insight into everyday life in the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Another important task is the protection and presentation of the burial mounds, which preserve the Iron Age burial customs. The number of burial mounds is falling rapidly because of human activity; many mounds are still under cultivation.

The park's 3.5-hectare site contains five burial mounds. The park is part of the institution “Matrica” Múzeum és Régészeti Park; the foundation established in 1989, the museum's oldest civil organisation, also took part in its creation.

The park offers children's camps, craft sessions and educational programmes; group visits are possible with a guide.
