About the museum
The memorial house opened in 1979 with the legacy of the Kossuth Prize-winning artist, in his birthplace, a typical 19th-century peasant house. Ádám Jenő was an honorary citizen of Szigetszentmiklós; the family had moved to the settlement from Alcsút at the end of the 19th century. In four rooms, contemporary photographs, documents, furnishings and memorabilia present his life and work.
Visitors can see the material memorabilia of the artist-teacher’s sixty-year teaching career: his piano, his conductor’s costume, his own paintings and drawings, his awards, and letters from Kodály Zoltán and Bartók Béla.
