About the museum
The visitor centre opened in 2007 beside the Saint Martin church, on the site of a former Dominican monastery. Many pilgrims and tourists visit Saint Martin’s birthplace every year; the exhibitions guide visitors from Early Christian times to the present day. Replicas of archaeological finds, graphics, photographs, everyday objects of the monks and a three-dimensional presentation of the church’s building phases help visitors get to know the history of Szombathely and the veneration of the saint.
