About the museum
The Városi Régészeti Kiállítás (Municipal Archaeological Exhibition) in Budaörs opened in 2002 in the building of the former No. 1 nursery (bölcsőde), with the support of the local government. Its material is based on archaeological excavations carried out in the settlement over decades and on local history research.
The permanent exhibition “Antik gyökereink – Budaörs múltja a régészeti leletek fényében” (Our Ancient Roots – Budaörs’ Past in the Light of Archaeological Finds) presents, in three rooms, the most interesting pieces of the prehistoric, Roman and medieval finds unearthed in Budaörs, with reconstructions, models, pictorial documentation and tactile elements. The exhibition covers almost seven thousand years of history.
The “Élő Múzeum” (Living Museum) programmes include costumed museum education lessons, family play houses and craft sessions on Saturdays, birthday parties, team-building trainings, town events and historical banquets. Within the framework of the “Utazó Múzeum” (Travelling Museum), the exhibition also presents itself in schools, kindergartens and at festivals.
