About the museum
The Ívfény Múzeum (Arc Light Museum) covers the earliest period of electric arc lighting, roughly from 1860 to the First World War. The collection is housed on the site of the former electricity transformer station, and the conversion and installation work has been going on for years. Several of the machines, which are more than a hundred years old, are still working and can be energised; visits inside the building are therefore allowed only in the presence of a museologist, while the street-front display cases can be viewed freely.
The museum and its historical specialist library may be visited free of charge by anyone. The conversion work is ongoing, so it is advisable to arrange a visit by telephone.
