About the museum
ApuanGeoLab is a virtual museum devoted to the Earth sciences, set up at Equi Terme, in the municipality of Fivizzano, next to the visitor centre of the Parco regionale delle Alpi Apuane. The route is not based on a collection of finds but on interactive machines, mostly mechanical, which invite visitors to observe and experiment.
The journey moves from the global to the local scale, from planet Earth (“Gaia”, the title of one of the sections) to the Apuan Alps. The exhibits show how the planet has changed over geological time, why earthquakes occur and how mountains were formed, with attention to the geological history of the Apuan Alps. A workshop for schools is also available.
