About the museum
The museum commemorates the printing tradition of Fivizzano in Lunigiana. Between 1471 and 1474 the printer Jacopo da Fivizzano and his companions, with the motto “Comites in amore benigni”, set up one of the first movable-type printing workshops in Italy here and printed works by classical authors such as Virgil, Cicero, Sallust and Juvenal. In Fivizzano, printed books therefore appeared two years before Genoa and three years before Turin.
The museum was founded in the early 2000s and is dedicated to this history and to printing techniques. Public information about its collection and visiting arrangements is limited.
