About the museum
The archaeological area lies beneath and beside the cathedral of Concordia Sagittaria, the ancient Iulia Concordia, a Roman colony on the Via Annia. Excavations have uncovered an early Christian complex of great interest, linked to the Christian community that developed in Concordia between late antiquity and the early Middle Ages.
The route includes the remains of a trichora martyrum and of a three-aisled basilica with a geometric mosaic floor and a raised presbytery bench. There are also a quadriporticus with a central well, the remains of the episcopal residence and a burial area with sarcophagi next to the trichora.
The entrance atrium overlooks a very well-preserved stretch of the paved Via Annia, around which a small exhibition on the road and the territory of the ancient town is set up. On display are, among other things, a bronze disc from Musile di Piave, a 1st-century AD terracotta lion from Via Fornasatta and a dagger decorated with ageminatura (inlay), found during the 19th-century excavations near the Roman bridge, which recalls Concordia's military role in late antiquity.
The site is run together with the Museo archeologico nazionale concordiese in Portogruaro, with which it shares its ticket.

The upper exhibition level (atrium, ticket office, display on the Via Annia) is accessible; the lower early Christian basilica can be reached by lift and ramps.
