About the museum
The museum is housed in an old mill, already operating in the 15th century, attached to the 19th-century Villa Dalla Pasqua and set in a park of oaks and ash trees along the Loncon river. The building is now owned by the Comune di Pramaggiore.
The display is spread over two floors and is devoted to grinding and the cultivation of cereals. On the ground floor the grinding room and the mechanisms, which remained in use until the last century, illustrate the miller’s work, while explanatory panels trace the history of the mill as a water-powered works.
On the first floor, historical photographs and original objects found in the area tell the story of the grain economy. The collection also includes ancient millstones, gears and tools, and furnishings of everyday rural life.
