About the museum
Biddas is housed on the second floor of the Palazzo Baronale in Sorso and is presented as the first museum in Italy dedicated to the depopulation and abandonment of inhabited centres. The visit is led by experts from the Cooperativa Sarda di Archeologia Medievale.
Interactive tools based on reconstructions, images, sounds and keywords tell the story of depopulation in Sardinia, from the contemporary age back to the Middle Ages. One room is dedicated to Geridu, an abandoned medieval village and the only case in Sardinia to have been excavated over a large area: it presents reconstructions and the results of more than twenty years of research.
The museum also offers guided visits to the archaeological site of Geridu and has a teaching room, where workshops are held by booking.
