About the museum
The crenellated palace was built in the 15th century by Lodovico d'Acaja as the seat of the Curia Pineroliensis, the town's court. In 1713 Vittorio Amedeo II installed there the Senato del Pinerolese, with jurisdiction over all of Piedmont; for this reason the building is known as the Casa del Senato or Palazzo del Senato.
Today the building houses the permanent exhibition devoted to the Doma Rossa necropolis and to the Pinerolo area in Roman times. The material comes from a necropolis discovered at Riva di Pinerolo, near the Doma Rossa farmhouse (cascina), where about thirty burials were identified that yielded around five hundred grave goods.
In the ground-floor room three tombs have been reconstructed with their grave goods, while on the upper floor glass, metal objects and ceramics are displayed.
