About the museum
The museum is in one of the houses in Gualtieri where Antonio Ligabue (Zurich, 1899 – Gualtieri, 1965) lived and painted for several years. It is run by the Circolo A.I.C.S. “Il Borgo”.
The route traces the stages of the painter’s human and artistic life through objects that belonged to him, documents, reproductions of his works and some authentic paintings. Unpublished and historical audiovisual material can also be seen in the museum, along with the docufilm by director Ezio Aldoni about Ligabue the man. The explanatory panels and the documentary are in Italian and English.
The club also organises guided tours of Gualtieri and nearby villages, boat trips on the Po and bicycle tours of the Bassa Reggiana. Local food products can be bought at the museum.
