About the museum
The museum is housed in the premises of the Azienda Regionale per la Navigazione Interna in Boretto, where historic boats and numerous tools from the various workshop departments are preserved: planes, gouges and chisels for caulking, rudders, anchors, portholes and other onboard instruments from decommissioned dredgers. The forging department, still intact, displays wooden models for the framework of the large connections of dredging pumps, semi-finished products, crucibles, ingots and tongs.
The route, spread across five exhibition rooms, documents the history of river navigation in Emilia-Romagna, shipbuilding, land reclamation and water management. In the yard stands the imposing dredger “Secchia”, launched in Venice in the early 1930s.
