About the museum
The present church was commissioned in 1722 by Giuseppe Giamei and Elisabetta Biondi and dedicated to San Gennaro and San Liborio, as part of the new urban layout of the town. Little is known of the previous church, which was destroyed by the end of the 16th century.
The building was declared a national monument in 1927, after a campaign by a town committee in favour of its restoration. Since 1998 it has housed the sacred art section of the civic museum and of Cerreto ceramics, with works of sacred art and local ceramics.
