About the museum
The ethnographic collection stems from the work of Mario Ruttar, who devoted his life to collecting objects and testimonies of local life in the last century. It is housed in a house museum at Clodig, a hamlet of Grimacco, in the Natisone Valleys.
The route begins with an old wood-burning kitchen, still in working order, and presents everyday and working tools: agricultural implements, tools for keeping animals, for processing milk and for carpentry, together with photographs, sacred images, keys, suitcases and objects linked to mining and emigration. A bedroom from the early 20th century has been reconstructed with its furnishings, and wooden carnival masks, still in use today, are on display.
