About the museum
The Giardino Viaggio di Ritorno is an environmental art project by the artist and bio-architect Rodolfo Lacquaniti, born in the Maremma countryside of Castiglione della Pescaia. The work extends over about 40,000 square metres and brings together installations, exhibition spaces, paintings and video art. The common thread is the reuse of objects, waste and rubbish, transformed into large sculptures placed among the olive trees.
The underlying idea is to invite visitors to rediscover their original nature, away from the pressures of consumer society. The route includes numbered works from 00 to 18, among them “I Cerchi Magici”, “Viaggio verso la Luce”, “Le Balene”, “La Piazza”, “L’Arca”, “La Storia di Sarah”, “Transit”, “Gli Angeli” and “The Garbage Revolution”.
The garden is run by the non-profit cultural association Giardino Viaggio di Ritorno, which uses visitor income for maintenance. It can only be visited by booking, accompanied by a guide for about two hours; for large groups, visits with the artist can be arranged.
