About the museum
The museum is in Montepescali, a village in the Comune of Grosseto, and is dedicated to Ildebrando Imberciadori. Its purpose is to preserve the history, traditions and customs of the castle of Montepescali, a free commune from 1147 that was conquered by Siena in 1300.
The exhibition space consists of four rooms and a gallery. It holds documents covering the ancient, medieval, early modern and contemporary periods, archaeological finds, parts of antique clock mechanisms, a guillotine and tools typical of the farming life of the area.
The museum has no fixed opening hours: visits are possible for small groups on request, by contacting the parish priest or the parish housekeeper (perpetua) of the church of San Niccolò.
