About the museum
The Museo della Civiltà Rurale opened on 26 May 2007 within the Rocca di Montemassi wine estate in the Tuscan Maremma, at the foot of the ancient village of Montemassi, between the Tyrrhenian coast and the Colline Metallifere. It was set up by the Zonin family, owners of the estate, and is now part of the estate's visitor offering.
The collection comprises over 3,000 objects and a photo archive documenting more than a century of life in the countryside. The museum tells the story of work and everyday life in the rural world of the Maremma through tools, implements and testimonies.
The museum is visited as part of the estate's guided tours, which include the wine farm, the cellar and the museum, followed by a wine tasting. No separate ticket is indicated.
