About the museum
The museum “In herbis salus”, also known as the Museo delle erbe (Herb Museum), is housed in the old town hall of Cosio d'Arroscia, next to the Oratorio dell'Assunta, in the medieval village of the Arroscia valley. It tells of the community's bond with the plants of the area, whose knowledge attracted the attention of herbalists and doctors at a time when there were no medicines.
The display presents numerous aromatic, medicinal and edible plants, labelled with their Latin and local names, together with the tools used to prepare tinctures, extracts and herbal teas and to distil lavender.
