About the museum
The museum is housed in the complex of the Madonna della Ripa, an ancient Gothic church built in 1370 as the first parish church (pieve) of the new village of Pieve di Teco and connected to the oratory of N.S. Assunta. The building has been converted into a diocesan museum of sacred art.
The rooms hold paintings, sculptures and liturgical furnishings from the churches of the upper Arroscia valley, largely from the collegiate church of San Giovanni Battista. Among the works are a Last Supper by Domenico Piola, formerly kept in the sacristy of the collegiate church, a processional float of 1715 with the statue of Nostra Signora Assunta by Anton Maria Maragliano, and a wooden crucifix by the same sculptor.
