About the museum
The Biblioteca Lucana Angela Aiello is one of the venues of the MAM – Musei Aiello Moliterno museum system and occupies the first two floors of a Liberty (Art Nouveau) building in via Santa Croce.
It holds books and prints on Basilicata from the 17th century to the present day. On the second floor are the map room, where the oldest map dates from 1620, and the earthquake room, which documents the Vulture earthquake of 1851 and the Val d’Agri earthquake of 1857. On the third floor a rare collection of volumes and prints dedicated to the Grand Tour is preserved.
