About the museum
The Museum of Contemporary Art is part of the MAM – Musei Aiello Moliterno museum system and occupies an old dwelling in the Castello district, the highest and oldest part of Moliterno’s historic centre. The building has kept its wooden beams and handmade terracotta floors, in a deliberate contrast with the works on display.
The collection brings together works by Italian and international artists, including Marino Marini, Hans Hartung, Antoni Tàpies and Michelangelo Pistoletto, alongside those of Basilicata artists such as Giacinto Cerone. On the ground floor is the Spazio Riccardo Dalisi, dedicated to the Neapolitan designer and artist best known for his “humanised” coffee pots.
