About the museum
The Museo del Paesaggio is housed in Palazzo Aiello 1786, opposite the Chiesa Madre (mother church) of Moliterno. It is one of the venues of the MAM – Musei Aiello Moliterno museum system, which grew out of the art collection assembled by Professor Gianfranco Aiello.
The display is dedicated to landscape in painting from the 18th century to the present. It includes views by the Scuola di Posillipo, works by foreign painters active in Italy during the Grand Tour, the landscapes of the Romantics and the Divisionists, and works up to the 20th century and the years of the Second World War. The official website presents this collection as a unique proposition in the Italian museum landscape.
The building keeps the atmosphere of an 18th-century residence, with chestnut wooden beams and handmade terracotta floors, and offers visitors an intimate setting in the heart of the historic centre.
