About the museum
The Museo Michele Tedesco e dell’Ottocento Lucano, housed in Casa Domenico Aiello, was the first venue of the MAM – Musei Aiello Moliterno museum system and opened in 2010. The project that later gave rise to the other museums in the historic centre of Moliterno started from here.
The collection is largely dedicated to Michele Tedesco, one of the most important painters from Basilicata, of Moliterno origin. His paintings on display include “Cari colombi”, “La morte del cardellino”, “Segreta attesa”, “Maternità” and “Il palazzo dello Sceicco”, together with eighteen artist’s notebooks with drawings and watercolours. The circuit is completed by works of other 19th-century painters, including Vincenzo Marinelli, Giacomo Di Chirico, Angelo Brando and Andrea Petroni.
