About the museum
The Museo Enogastronomico di Solopaca (MEG) is housed in Palazzo Cutillo, a building dating from 1826 in the historic centre of the town, in the province of Benevento. It is an educational museum that documents the culture of food and wine and the typical products of the inland areas of southern Italy.
The heart of the collection is a collection of food labels from the late nineteenth century to the present, which shows the industrialisation of food production, with mechanisation, standardisation and advertising. One section is devoted to counterfeit foods, curated by the Museum of the University of Salerno, and an educational route tells the story of food and wine.
The museum is promoted as part of the cultural sites of the ArtSannio Campania network and offers guided visits to the collections, scientific events, exhibitions, conferences, training courses and tasting workshops.
