About the museum
The museum is located in the Benedictine Abbey of the Santissimo Salvatore in San Salvatore Telesino, a medieval building dating back to around the 10th century. In 2010 a museum collection with finds recovered from the ruins of ancient Telesia was opened in the abbey.
The route presents everyday objects, household items, ornaments, jewellery, statues, pottery and work tools dating from the 4th century BC to the 5th century AD. It covers the Samnite period, the Roman colony and the city's later destruction.
The display also allows visitors to see the 14th-century frescoes and sculptures of the abbey, where the well traditionally linked to the stay of Saint Anselm of Aosta is located.
