About the museum
The Museo Agricolo e del Vino Ricci Curbastro is in Capriolo, in Franciacorta, in the historic buildings of the Ricci Curbastro farm, built in 1870 to a design by the architect Antonio Tagliaferri. It grew out of the research of Gualberto Ricci Curbastro (1932–2013), who for more than thirty years collected objects of past farm work, with the intention of preserving a “photograph” of a rural world that has disappeared. It was inaugurated in July 1986 and has been continually expanded over the years.
The collection comprises thousands of farming and winemaking objects and tools, arranged in four themed rooms and described in a catalogue with technical and historical entries. The museum is next to a winery still in operation after eighteen generations of the same family, and it belongs to the Museimpresa network.
The project is completed by an archive of family documents, a library and an online digital archive, which together tell the story of the company and of viticulture in Franciacorta.
