About the museum
The museum is housed in a palazzo donated to the municipality of Notaresco by the Romualdi family, to which it owes its name. It was created to collect and display finds from about seventy archaeological sites in the Notaresco area and its surroundings, and is run by volunteers from the Archeoclub d’Italia. The building has two floors plus a basement.
The route includes rooms devoted to Italic-period ceramics and metalwork, everyday objects and common pottery, thin-walled ware, terra sigillata and glass, cooking ware, oil lamps and plaster, as well as some reconstructions, stone and brick objects with a small projection room, and a prehistoric and protohistoric section.
An important core consists of materials from the Roman villa of Grasciano, discovered in 1992 by volunteers from a cooperative affiliated with the Archeoclub. The investigations uncovered the remains of a farming settlement, with a pool of about 18 × 9 m and a semi-underground cistern of about 8 × 8 m, datable to the period between the 2nd century BC and the 2nd century AD.
