Have only individual sections read aloud
About the museum
The museum is in Alpicella, a hillside hamlet of Varazze, and is dedicated to the archaeological finds from the municipal territory, mainly from the Neolithic period. Among the materials on display are numerous square-mouthed vessels, typical of the Neolithic culture of the Ligurian area.
A natural history section presents aspects of the area’s geology, mineralogy and botany. In the surroundings visitors can reach a megalithic trail with a ring of standing stones oriented towards Monte Greppino, the Fenestrelle rock shelter (Middle Neolithic, discovered in 1977), menhirs, rock engravings and a stone bridge dating from around the year 1000, known as the “Ponte dei Saraceni” (Saracens’ bridge).
