About the museum
The “Tipica Casa Contadina Ligure” is set up in a restored rural house in the hamlet of Sciarborasca, in the municipality of Cogoleto, and was inaugurated in 1998. It holds objects that bear witness to the life and work of the men and women tied to the rhythm of the seasons.
The interior spaces are organised by theme: the kitchen with tools for working milk, pasta and coffee; the bedroom with hand-embroidered linens; the spinning and sewing room; and the attic with tools for outdoor work.
Most of the objects come from the collection originally assembled through cooperation between the primary school and many residents of Sciarborasca. The house is also the starting point of a footpath to the summit of Monte Beigua (1,287 m), where the small church of the Madonna della Pace stands.
