About the museum
The museum is dedicated to Carlo Urbani, a doctor born in Castelplanio in 1956 and known for his commitment to international health cooperation and the fight against infectious diseases. It was inaugurated on 1 April 2023 in the former primary school building of the village.
The route runs on a single floor, in three rooms: the first with the ticket office and a chronological reconstruction of Urbani's life; the second with personal effects and objects linked to his fieldwork; the third with awards, publications and works made by children and students inspired by his message.
The museum is promoted together with the Associazione Italiana Carlo Urbani (AICU), founded in July 2003 by relatives, colleagues and friends to carry on the humanitarian, educational and cultural work of the doctor. The spaces are designed to be flexible and also host artistic and training initiatives, with proposals for schools and a route dedicated to children.
