About the museum
The Biagio Greco Civic Archaeological Museum was opened on 20 October 2000, and in 2007 it was recognised as a museum of regional interest. The collections derive largely from excavations funded by the municipality since 2001.
The route, across five rooms arranged chronologically, begins with local prehistory and the stone tools of the Aurignacian and Epigravettian periods. It continues with material of the Ausones–Aurunci from the protohistoric and archaic period, then the Roman finds of the colony of Sinuessa, founded in 296 BC, and of the Falernian territory, including a statue of Apollo Musagetes from the 2nd century AD, amphorae and about two hundred coins.
The last section is devoted to the Middle Ages and to the finds from the Rocca and the villages of Montis Dragonis, also illustrated by a large model of the fortress; among the more recent objects is a 16th-century plate from Deruta.
