About the museum
The museum was established in 1981 on the initiative of the Andreis municipal administration and is housed in the former town hall on the village's central square. Through objects dating from the second half of the nineteenth to the first half of the twentieth century, it documents the work and everyday life of a mountain community that was poor in resources but rich in craft skills.
Among the most interesting pieces are the unusual wooden Easter rattles, the “cràceles”, which replaced the sound of church bells on Maundy Thursday. Also on display are the blacksmith's forge, a case showing the making of bone combs, the “palotes” (wooden shoes) and “scarpetes” (fabric footwear) once worn at festivities, as well as clogs with snow and ice crampons, snuff boxes, wicker baskets and spoons.
The collection is completed by the tools of the woodcutter and the farmer, such as the scythe and rake, implements for processing wool and milk, and kitchen utensils.
