About the museum
The collection consists largely of works from the former oratory of the Annunziata in Solarolo, built in the fifteenth century and renovated in 1743. Before becoming municipal property, the paintings belonged to the Congregazione di Carità and the Opere Pie.
The works are displayed in the council chamber of the Palazzo comunale, built on the site of the earlier medieval building destroyed during the Second World War. On the back wall stands a fifteenth-century marble relief of the Madonna and Child, attributed to Francesco di Simone Ferrucci, a pupil of Desiderio da Settignano.
Among the paintings are eighteenth-century canvases, a detached fresco of 1630 from the oratory and an Annunciation by the Faenza painter Giovan Battista Bertucci, dated 1599.
