About the museum
The municipal museum is housed in the Palazzo della Comunità in Medicina, the former seat of the municipal administration. It holds collections of various origins that document the history, culture and traditions of the area.
On the first floor are the archaeological section (Bronze Age, Roman and medieval), sacred and devotional art, art and architecture, the nineteenth-century pharmacy of the Ospedale di Medicina with its original shelves, counters and jars, and the workshop of the luthier Ansaldo Poggi. The basement floor (piano seminterrato) houses a collection of puppets, the miniature farm tools of the craftsman Silvio Marabini, the clock mechanism and the Tinti family's loom.
The route also includes the “A. Borgonzoni” picture gallery, with over one hundred works by the Medicina painter Aldo Borgonzoni (1913–2004). At the Camera del Lavoro, his 45-metre-long mural “Storia del popolo di Medicina dal 1921 al 1948” can be seen by appointment.
