About the museum
The museum is dedicated to Domenica Rosa Mazzolini, a collector born in Brugnello, near Bobbio, who in 2005 donated many works of modern and contemporary art to the diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio so that they would be accessible to the public.
The collection brings together works by Italian artists created between the 1930s and the 1960s. It was formed by combining Rosa Mazzolini's personal collection with the one she inherited in 1994 from the Simonetti brothers, Milanese doctors for whom she had worked as an assistant. Before the actual display, three rooms tell the story of the collectors and their passions.
Artists represented include Enrico Baj, Renato Birolli, Carlo Carrà, Massimo Campigli, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giorgio De Chirico, Filippo De Pisis, Lucio Fontana, Achille Funi, Piero Manzoni, Mario Sironi and Ottone Rosai, and among foreign artists Sonia Delaunay and Hans Arp.
