About the museum
The museum is set up in the Oratorio del Santo Suffragio in Ponzone, a rectangular hall with a barrel vault frescoed by the Ponzone painter Pietro Ivaldi, known as Il Muto, and a sandstone portal dated 1632.
The rooms hold several polychrome wooden statues dating from the 15th to the 16th century, including God the Father, Saint Paul, Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian, Saint John the Evangelist and Saint Margaret, a large wooden crucifix with jointed arms, and a banner with dolphins on its frame. The most valuable piece is the wooden processional case by Antonio Maria Maragliano (1664-1741), which depicts the vision of Saint John the Evangelist on the island of Patmos.
