About the museum
The museum was opened on 3 May 1998 with the aim of recovering the folk and traditional heritage of the Marche hills, so that the historical memory of past generations is not lost. It is housed in the basements of the Palazzo Comunale in Montelupone and consists of eight rooms.
They display tools and instruments of craft and farm work, antique objects, photographs and clothing from the area. Every object is labelled with its name in the dialect of Montelupone.
Among the most unusual rooms is the room of collective equipment, with the still-working mechanism of the civic tower clock, two large film projectors in use until the 1960s, lamps and tools from the former local electricity company, and a reconstruction of a 19th-century printing workshop.
