About the museum
The Museo degli antichi saperi (Museum of Ancient Knowledge) is set up in the historic rooms of the Palazzo baronale Picinni-Leopardi in Buonabitacolo, in the Vallo di Diano, in the province of Salerno. It was created on the initiative of Maurizio Vignati and is promoted by the municipal administration and the Associazione Palazzo Picinni-Leopardi.
The collection is divided into sections that bring together objects and work tools of traditional crafts: spinning, leatherwork, tailoring, carpentry, ironwork, cooking and other areas of daily life. Brought together and organised, these tools tell the story of the people who made and used them.
The museum was made possible by the generosity of many citizens, who made the objects they owned available free of charge. Visits are by reservation only.
